SUMMARY:Thursday Morning Scripture Study - The History of Vatican II
LOCATION:Colleyville\, TX
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our next series\, The History of Vatican II\, prese
nted by Jim McGill. Vatican II is the most important event in the Roman Ca
tholic Church in the twentieth century and\, arguably\, since the Reformat
ion. The Council met periodically from 1962 to 1965. As the Church complet
es the celebration of the sixtieth anniversary of Vatican II\, this class
will examine and discuss:\n• The history and issues that led up to the C
ouncil\n• The reasons Pope John XXIII called the Council\n• How the Co
uncil operated\n• What was discussed\, debated and concluded\n• The si
xteen documents the Council produced\n• How the Council has been impleme
nted and interpreted by the magisterium and the faithful.\n\nAs every pope
has affirmed\, to be Catholic in the twenty-first century is to be living
in the Church as understood by Vatican II. We will explore this rich lega
cy and see why its importance and significance is not diminished by the pa
ssing of time but continues to be the link between our ancient faith tradi
tion and the modern world.\nCost is $20.\nVisit gscc.net/scripturestudy to
register.\n\nHosted by Good Shepherd Catholic Community Church\n\nMore: h
