SUMMARY:The Solid Rock – Through the Decades
LOCATION:Charlotte\, NC
DESCRIPTION:On October 18\, 2026\, SouthPark Church will celebrate 60 years
of ministry and mission in the heart of SouthPark.\nOur story began in 19
66\, when we were founded as Sharon United Methodist Church. Our first wor
ship service was held on September 4\, 1966\, and on October 2\, the churc
h was formally constituted with its first 60 members.\nFor many years\, ou
r distinctive architecture made us a SouthPark landmark. With its sweeping
roofline\, the church became affectionately known as the “ski slope”
church—a familiar and unique presence in our community.\nToday\, the cam
pus has been re-imagined through the Love SouthPark Initiative as part of
the Apex SouthPark Development\, bringing apartments\, retail\, restaurant
s\, and a hotel to the property. And right in the middle of it all stands
SouthPark Church\, continuing its ministry in the heart of the community.\
nOur 60th anniversary theme\, “The Solid Rock – Through the Decades\,
” reminds us that while buildings change\, communities change\, and gene
rations come and go\, our foundation remains the same: Jesus Christ. He is
the Solid Rock upon which this church has been built for six decades—an
d the foundation upon which we look toward the future.\nWe will begin our
anniversary celebration with a special piano and organ concert on Sunday a
fternoon\, October 11\, featuring Lee Northcutt and John Stafford.\nThen\,
on Sunday morning\, October 18\, we will gather to celebrate 60 years of
worshiping\, serving\, and sharing God’s love in the heart of SouthPark.
Worship begins at 10:00 AM\, with additional anniversary events\, to incl
ude light bites\, following the service.\nEveryone is invited\, and all ev
ents are open to the public.\nFor 60 years\, God has been faithful. Throug
h the decades\, Christ has remained our Solid Rock—and we look forward w
ith gratitude and hope to all that God will continue to do through SouthPa
 rk Church.\n\nHosted by SouthPark Church\n\nMore: https://whatsupchurch.co
