SUMMARY:The Holy Great Martyr Demetrius the Myrrh-streamer
LOCATION:Raleigh\, NC
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 10/26/2026\n\nSaints and Fea
sts: The Holy Great Martyr Demetrius the Myrrh-streamer\; Commemoration of
the Earthquake\; Eata of Hexham\n\nMatins Gospel Reading: Luke 21:12-19\n
The Lord said to his disciples\, "Beware of men who will lay their hands o
n you and persecute you\, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons\
, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name's sake. T
his will be a time for you to bear testimony. Settle it therefore in your
minds\, not to meditate beforehand how to answer\; for I will give you a m
outh and wisdom\, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand
or contradict. You will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and
kinsmen and friends\, and some of you they will put to death\; you will be
hated by all for my name's sake. But not a hair of your head will perish.
By your endurance you will gain your lives."\n\nEpistle Reading: II Timot
hy 2:1-10\nTimothy\, my son\, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jes
us\, and what you have heard from me before many witnesses entrust to fait
hful men who will be able to teach others also. Share in suffering as a go
od soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier on service gets entangled in civili
an pursuits\, since his aim is to satisfy the one who enlisted him. An ath
lete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. It is the h
ardworking farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops. Think ov
er what I say\, for the Lord will grant you understanding in everything.\n
\nRemember Jesus Christ\, risen from the dead\, descended from David\, as
preached in my gospel\, the gospel for which I am suffering and wearing fe
tters like a criminal. But the word of God is not fettered. Therefore I en
dure everything for the sake of the elect\, that they also may obtain salv
ation in Christ Jesus with its eternal glory.\n\nGospel Reading: John 15:1
7-27\; 16:1-2\nThe Lord said to his disciples: "This I command you\, to lo
ve one another. If the world hates you\, know that it has hated me before
it hated you. If you were of the world\, the world would love its own\; bu
t because you are not of the world\, but I chose you out of the world\, th
erefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you\, 'A ser
vant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me\, they will pe
rsecute you\; if they kept my word\, they will keep yours also. But all th
is they will do to you on my account\, because they do not know him who se
nt me. If I had not come and spoken to them\, they would not have sin\; bu
t now they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates me hates my Father a
lso. If I had not done among them the works which no one else did\, they w
ould not have sin\; but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father
. It is to fulfill the word that is written in their law\, 'They hated me
without a cause.'\n\nBut when the Counselor comes\, whom I shall send to y
ou from the Father\, even the Spirit of truth\, who proceeds from the Fath
er\, he will bear witness to me\; and you also are witnesses\, because you
have been with me from the beginning. I have said all this to you to keep
you from falling away. They will put you out of the synagogues\; indeed\,
the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering servi
ce to God."\n\nHosted by Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church\n\nMore: https
