SUMMARY:Righteous Pelagia
LOCATION:Raleigh\, NC
DESCRIPTION:Saints\, Feasts\, and Readings for 10/08/2026\n\nSaints and Fea
sts: Righteous Pelagia\; Virgin Pelagia\; Phillip\, Bishop of Gortyna\; Ta
isia of Egypt\n\nEpistle Reading: Philippians 1:20-27\nBrethren\, I shall
not be at all ashamed\, but that with full courage now as always Christ wi
ll be honored in my body\, whether by life or by death. For to me to live
is Christ\, and to die is gain. If it is to be life in the flesh\, that me
ans fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am ha
rd pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ\, fo
r that is far better. But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your
account. Convinced of this\, I know that I shall remain and continue with
you all\, for your progress and joy in the faith\, so that in me you may
have ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus\, because of my coming to you ag
ain. Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ.\n\nGo
spel Reading: Luke 7:17-30\nAt that time\, the report concerning Jesus spr
ead through the whole of Judea and all the surrounding country. The discip
les of John told him of all these things. And John\, calling to him two of
his disciples\, sent them to the Lord\, saying\, "Are you he who is to co
me\, or shall we look for another?" And when the men had come to him\, the
y said\, "John the Baptist has sent us to you\, saying\, 'Are you he who i
s to come\, or shall we look for another?'" In that hour he cured many of
diseases and plagues and evil spirits\, and on many that were blind he bes
towed sight. And he answered them\, "Go and tell John what you have seen a
nd heard: the blind receive their sight\, the lame walk\, lepers are clean
sed\, and the deaf hear\, the dead are raised up\, the poor have good news
preached to them. And blessed is he who takes no offense at me."\n\nWhen
the messengers of John had gone\, he began to speak to the crowds concerni
ng John: "What did you go out into the wilderness to behold? A reed shaken
by the wind? What then did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft cloth
ing? Behold\, those who are gorgeously appareled and live in luxury are in
kings' courts. What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes\, I tell y
ou\, and more than a prophet. This is he of whom it is written\, 'Behold\,
I send my messenger before your face\, who shall prepare your way before
you.' I tell you\, among those born of women none is greater than John\; y
et he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he." When they he
ard this all the people and the tax collectors justified God\, having been
baptized with the baptism of John\; but the Pharisees and the lawyers rej
ected the purpose of God for themselves\, not having been baptized by him.
